Three Ways to Make Your Radio Audience Listen to You

Part of being a Disc Jockey or DJ is making your radio audience listen to you. It does not always work that you just keep on talking and talking on the microphone. You have to remember that it is the audience that you have to please and no one else. If you cannot please them, you might as well kiss your DJ career goodbye. You have to consider them in almost everything you say because you are doing this for them.

Another way in keeping your radio audience listen to you is to share some stories or insights that they can relate to. There are radio stations that have a hotline or email where the listeners can share similar experiences relating to what the DJ is talking about. You can share dj marketing tips as well as how you got started in the first place. When the DJ is not yet on cue, they can select some of the stories and read them on air. The nice thing about this is that there is an interaction between the DJ and the listeners.

Lastly, since almost everyone loves a tinge of suspense, you can also incorporate that during your slot. However, just make sure that you do tell the audience what there is after several minutes. Never ever, let the radio audience hanging because you will not be able to get them back after they feel that you tricked them. You also have to know how long do you have to keep them anticipating. Usually, since you only have a few minutes to say what you have to say, let the listeners feel that they have to listen to you.

There are times when you have to tell some jokes just to keep the momentum on going. Everybody loves a little bit of laugher especially if people are having a boring and unsuccessful day. Being able to just sit down and have a nice time listening to the radio is a very nice way to go through the day. There may be times that you have to turn off the radio because of the nature of your work; however, you can always continue listening to it when you come home. DJs play a vital role in the radio industry because they entertain the radio audience as well as update them with the latest music locally and internationally.

Because the radio is the most accessible kind of media today, you would notice that many still prefer to use this means. You would also see that people are musically inclined thus the radio industry grabs this chance to advertise, entertain and educate people in the most effective way as they can. There are many competitions so it is the DJ’s job to lure more radio audience to their station and not to their competitors. Being able to reach out to your target audience and being able to sustain a healthy relationship with them is surely, what you dream of getting. It may time some time before people actually want to listen to you, however, the challenges and benefits you reap will all be worth it.
